Learning to Love Yourself First

“When we are peaceful and clear, we are inspired to be more compassionate. Compassion brings courage, and courage brings true happiness.” Thich Nhat Hanh

If I ask you, “Who are you the hardest with?” I can almost guarantee that an honest answer will be, “With myself.” So often, we neglect and mistreat the most important relationship in our lives, the ones we have with ourselves. This has negative impacts everywhere: on our mental health, our relationships, and how we live out our lives. When we learn how to love ourselves first, we learn to listen to our heart, to heal from our past traumas and to bring about healthy change in our lives. We find peace in the face of life’s natural challenges, trusting ourselves that we are strong enough to get through.
